Vegan's Day

Peanut Butter

Remember how I made my own almond butter using my ancient mini food processor a few months ago? And how even though it took a whopping 20 minutes (50 minutes for the sun butter) just to get it in the vicinity of 'smooth,' I was still so proud of the crusty ol' thing? Well, I recently made peanut butter using my mom's 'real' food processor, and I've realized that perhaps it's time for my old processor to go into retirement. My mom has an obscure Korean-brand processor that isn't even that good, and it gives off this slight burning smell if it goes for too long, but my goodness, it transformed whole peanuts into silky smooth butter in less than 5 minutes. I'm not kidding. I was timing it.

First, we shelled a bunch of dry roasted peanuts. Then it was time to grind 'em up! Observe:

This is as smooth as it gets, folks. Peanuts with just a teensy bit of salt. No sugar or oil added.
